TECHNICAL QUESTIONS

  • What device do I need to view the video from my Nesty Cam?

Your Nesty Cam requires an iOS or Android device that can run the Runcam App (Android / IOS) which is available from your App store.

  • What operating system do I need on my device?

The Runcam App is compatible with iOS 3.0+ OR Android 8.0+

  • What Micro SD cards are compatible with my Nesty Cam?

MicroSD, microSDHC, or micro SDXC, Class 10 /UHS-I/UHS-II/UHS-III, Capacity up to 1TB. Card must be formatted to exFAT/FAT32.

  • Can multiple screens connect to the camera at one time?

Only one device can be connected directly to your Nesty Cam. If you have a screen sharing app on your device you may be able to share the live view from your Nesty Cam with other devices.

  • Can I download video and photos over the Wifi link?

Yes you can. The Runcam app contains a gallery to review all captured video and images. You can download any files on your SD card, without removing the SD card or requiring a cable into your Nesty Cam.

  • Is Nesty Cam completely wireless?

Yes it is. Nesty Cam does not require any hazardous cables for recording out in the field, thus preventing tripping accidents and avoiding cables being tangled in branches and trees.

  • My tablet or phone is not connecting to the Nesty Cam over Wifi, what can I do?

Before attempting to connect to your Nesty Cam, it is a good idea to ‘forget’ any other Wifi networks that you may usually connect to. If these networks are not forgotten, your device will automatically default to them.

INSPECTION QUESTIONS

  • Can I carry out nesting box inspections on my own?

Yes! If it is safe to do so and remembering that venturing into remote areas on your own carries risk. With your Nesty Cam connected to a mobile phone, and the phone mounted to your painters pole with a bicycle phone holder you can monitor nesting boxes on your own.

  • How long will the battery last?

The battery will last up to 120 minutes while connected over Wifi, or up to 180 minutes in record only mode, see previous FAQ for details.

  • What can I do if I forget to charge the battery?

Fortunately your Nesty Cam has a back up power connection through the USB connector. If your Nesty Cam happens to run out of power while you’re out and about you can remove the battery and use a power bank connected via the USB cable to power your Nesty Cam to keep the inspections going!

  • What painters poles will work with my Nesty Cam?

Any painters pole with an ACME 3/4"-5 thread, which to be honest is pretty much all of them!

  • Do I have to connect over Wifi to carry out inspections?

Not necessarily. Some of our customers favour a speedy process when inspecting their nesting boxes. If you do not wish to have a live camera view on your device in order to undertake a large number of inspections quickly, use the camera in record only mode by ensuring the SD card is inserted, then turning the camera on and after 5 seconds pressing the large button once again, this will trigger continuous recording which will continue until the button is pressed again, or the memory card is full. This scenario may be useful if you want to complete field monitoring quickly in bad weather and then analyse the footage at a later date, rather than analysing images in the field. Recording is indicated by a slow flash of the blue LED under the large button. You can stop recording by pressing the large button again.
